How does consignment work?
Fill out the
consignment form. For every type of item you wish to sell, fill out a separate form. There are instructions on the form on where to send digital images or you can include image URLs in your form. We encourage that you have images so that your request can be processed quicker.
If your form is approved, we will contact you via email.
SORRY, BECAUSE OF THE HIGH VOLUME OF FORMS WE RECEIVE, WE CAN ONLY CONTACT APPROVALS. Once approved, you will receive details in an email on how to proceed, including what is required in preparing your items to ship to us.
All consigned items in the shop will include your company logo and links to all your shop products and your profile. Your items usually stay in our shop an average of 3 months. At any point during your term, you can request your unsold items be returned to you (we recommend leaving them in the shop for at least 3 months) and/or that your items go on sale.
At the end of each month you will receive details of items you have sold and you can always check in the shop to see how your items are doing.

What are the fees for consigning? Why do you charge fees?
We charge a fee of 40% of the retail price for each item sold. That means you get 60% of each item you sell through our store AND you don't have to worry about shopping cart fees, paypal fees, shipping fees, web hosting fees, etc. since all purchases are made through our site. You only get charged if an item sells, there are no registration or hidden fees.
Consigners will get paid at the end of each month of their consignment. You can choose to receive payment instantly via Paypal or have a business check sent to you.

What kinds of items do you accept for consignment?
Anything handcrafted or handmade! We look for items that are creative, handmade, in-season, functional and well-crafted. We are open to different medium and types of items. Items can be one-of-a-kind or available in multiple quantities/sizes. We do NOT accept vintage clothing or accessories on consignment. We will not accept anything we find offensive!
Please do not be offended if your products are not approved. We receive more applications than we have open spaces for. We keep all applications on file and routinely go back into our archives if space does become available.

Do I need digital photos of my stuff? Cuz I don't have any!
We encourage digital photos because it lets us process your application faster, but if you don't no worries! Just be sure you describe in detail your item. We may ask you to send a sample so that we can check it out! All photos for the shop are taken by us.

Do you accept International consigners?
Yes we do! International consigners must agree to be paid by Paypal and all payments/fess will be handled in USD (sorry no exceptions on this!). International consigners are also subject to different shipping terms. If you live outside the US and want to consign with us, simply fill out the form and note in "special notes" that you are international. If approved, you will receive full details on these international shipping terms.

I'm interested, but I've never sold my stuff before, any advice?
Sure! Consignment is a great way to get started! You can test out how well your product does to a large audience and meet lots of other crafty people--a great way to network! I get lots of questions about pricing, you set your own prices and I would suggest you take into consideration the amount of time going into making your item and your materials spent.

You do not need a company name or website to consign. If you do not have a company name, your items will be listed under your name.

What are the benfits of selling on CUT+PASTE? I have my own site so why should I sell on yours?
We do all the work and you can reap the benefits of not having to spend time setting up and hosting a site or figuring out payments and shipments. Leave the photo taking and item posting to us and you can just concentrate on making and creating! We also have a growing newsletter subscriber base of over 3,000 customers, so the audience you can reach is growing everyday!
If you do have a website, selling at CUT + PASTE has several benefits. Your items are free advertising for your site, since all consigned items will also include a logo and link to the your website. You can try a new different audience and reach a great level of exposure.

I'm a little nervous...can I trust you?
While we're not a big honky shop and there are no signatures or deeds for you to sign over to consign with us, we are responsible and work to make this work for all parties involved. Every consigners deal is sealed with a virtual handshake and we offer consignment as a service to makers and customers. We believe that the best relationships come from honest personal ones, so feel free to contact me at any time...while I might not be able to get back right away, I will answer your questions as soon as I can! Will I be guaranteed to sell something?
Nothing in life is certain and we can't guarantee that items will sell. But over 95% of our consigners do sell items in the shop! There is always that chance that it's just not the right time for your product. *We* even have a hard time guessing what sells and what doesn't and even some consigners are surprised too! So if you're not sure, just ask and there's really no loss in trying consignment out!
